"I don't think Sangrians are a nuisance." she said, then paused, withdrawing her touch so she could rest her cheek in her hand. "But no, you're right. I mean, we're in a war. An odd war that stops all the time and then starts again, but... yes, most people here aren't... very fond of Sangrians."

"So then you and your sisters..?"

"Ordinarily guests are allowed to leave." He pointed out.

Giovanni had stopped at the tree line, not eager to give away his position. He lamented internally the plight of these two, severely outnumbered and seemingly quite endangered. It clearly hadn't been their first encounter with these Nightriders, but even so they weren't an enemy to scoff at. If they did pick off a Lumanlisc or two, it certainly wouldn't be the worst thing, especially since he suffered no implication at all from it. Not to mention his cover with Roo was shaky at best if not totally blown, and if she never took that knowledge outside this forest, well, that worked out in his favor.

Giovanni hung back, interested to eavesdrop now that actual explanations might crop up. Roo had promised him one, but he didn't really expect her to just hand him the truth.

Giovanni considered lingering, but it seemed that the remaining Lumanlisc had tasked herself with roiling over the soil until the evidence of their deeds was no more. He slunk around the clearing from shadow to shadow, set on tailing Roo and Rhea.

Things were fairly uneventful for most of the journey. Roo made her way through the trees, oblivious to him. At some point, a small snuffle sounded at her feet and she leaned over to pick up a familiar rabbit. "Hello Moira. You're getting lots of carrots when we get home."

But then above, the cry of a crow sounded. Roo paused, looking towards it, her expression pinched with worried confusion.
A glint appeared in the shadows near to Giovanni, but on closer inspection, revealed Venenzio. He offered his partner a stony nod, which Giovanni knew was a cover for deeper unease.

Giovanni glanced towards Roo as if to explain his current objective. The night was getting longer-- if they didn't return by daybreak they'd have other problems-- but the opportunity before them was too good to pass up.

"It's getting volatile." Venenzio corrected, his unsympathetic eyes on the struggling Lumanlisc girl. "Hopefully someone else does the job of putting those things down."

It did make him curious that she didn't attack them despite how roughly they handled her. Her only goal seemed to be in getting away, but clearly she wasn't much good at that either.

Giovanni clicked his tongue, glancing at the foreboding walls of the Hold. If the Lumanliscs were going home it likely meant the guards would be winding down soon and sweeping the place to confirm an all clear. But who knew when such an opportunity would present itself again?
