Pari fell quiet for a moment, contemplative. She'd been stemming all of her roiling emotions since the previous night - both from the demon and from what had happened afterwards - and those feelings were threatening to slop over the brim of her fraying resolve, but she took a quiet breath to hold it back... at least a moment longer. "It pretended to be an Altirian," she said factually. "The lights went out because of a snowstorm, and we thought the Lumanliscs had sent someone over to fix them. But it was a demon. We found out a few hours later when I went to go fix the lights... because they went out again... and it was sitting in the basement."

Her tone was detached though her cadence was faltering. The picture she painted-- stumbling upon an unwanted visitor biding its time in the dark-- sent a chill of fear through him. He had rounded the desk as she spoke, gaze darting about her in search of any signs of injury. "Are you alright?" He asked, the most important question, above any other details of how they survived the encounter.

"I've got all my important bits." she joked, but her expression was unchanged and somber, and her voice grew quiet. "... I put a knife through its gut."

Kyros had done much worse in his life, so she knew he wouldn't condemn her for her violence. In fact, he might have been the one person who understood, who could... commiserate.
At the same time, it wasn't a good look for the woman accused of putting a knife in the old queen's back to have put a knife through the stomach of a demon. She exhaled softly, rubbing the bridge of her nose with a tired hand.

He watched her face change almost imperceptibly as she spoke, before she deflected his gaze with her hand. She described it simply, but the scene must have been anything but. For Parisa to be pushed to violence like that, to cross that barrier... That sort of thing changed you.
"Is it... dead?" He asked, though for a demon death was an obstacle, not a wall.

“Yeah,” her jaw tensed before she continued, “… not because of me. One of the Lumanliscs’ boyfriends chopped it up, and then they used the blood to draw wards around the house to keep more demons from breaking in.”

What the hell was going on in that country? He'd heard that demons were commonplace among Altirians, but this was ridiculous. Unless it was a targeted attack? That thought darkened his mood further, though now wasn't the time for that. His hand moved to near her elbow, not making contact, though the intention was there. It had been so long since Pari had been like this in front of him. Whatever had happened in that house must have shaken her to her core.
He pressed his lips together, "And Feofil..?"
Of course he had noticed the lack of his presence both in the room and the story. He only hoped it was innocuous.

"Feo's fine," she confirmed, leaning towards him automatically. Years had passed between them, but it seemed they were still attuned to each other. She was too tired to fight the familiarity. "He tried to stop it, but he couldn't. I did. Barely. I don't know why or how, but... it's just another problem to tack onto the list. Anyways, Saskia's with him now, so..."

So many questions were raised by her statements, but he felt now was not the time.
"Parisa," he blurted out. "You can't stay there."

She looked at him, brow furrowed. "Well, I can't stay here either."

"I know," he acquiesced, gently leading her to the chaise across the room. "But you have other options."
