"We're glad to have you," Feo cut in, intent on steering the conversation away from this tired topic. "It's early, did you eat yet? Can I get you anything?"

He nodded, not meeting her gaze. "Yeah, yeah, I'm okay. We're just a little shaken, obviously." He glanced towards the kitchen, "Didn't sleep much last night."

Her tone was detached though her cadence was faltering. The picture she painted-- stumbling upon an unwanted visitor biding its time in the dark-- sent a chill of fear through him. He had rounded the desk as she spoke, gaze darting about her in search of any signs of injury. "Are you alright?" He asked, the most important question, above any other details of how they survived the encounter.

"Oh, fuck," he removed the bundle from the flame. Did its anger mean it was having the opposite effect, or was it aggravated at being weakened? "What do we do?"

"Pari!" Feo called out in shock, though a surge of awe rose within him as well. It wouldn't burgeon into relief until the demon's body hit the floor... but that moment never came, as it instead remained frozen there, its eyes forever fixed on Pari.

He stepped forward and caught her shoulders in his hands, pulling her close and putting some distance between themselves and the strange husk of Melat that now occupied the foyer. "Are you okay?"

Feo raised his eyebrow at Parisa offering to serve for once, but decided to take it. "Alright, thanks."

He lifted his head, casting an unsure glance in her direction. Telling her about the demon was inviting a motherly storm, but the information making its way to his dad was what he really feared. Still... he didn't like having Pari's lie hanging between them, leading her to think he was concussed or something. "The blood on the stairs isn't mine. There was a demon that made its way inside, but it was fine... we took care of it."
